除夕俗称“年三十”，是农历一年最后一天的晚上，即春节前一天的晚上。按照中国人的传统，除夕是极为重要的传统节日，它是一个人增长一岁的节点，也连接着旧岁新年。
除夕习俗历史久远，有关记载最早见于《吕氏春秋》。除夕之夜，中国人阖家团聚，一起吃年夜饭，叙旧话新，畅谈未来。一家人常常彻夜不眠，围坐守岁，迎接春节的到来。
Chinese New Year's Eve is the last night of the lunar New Year, that is also the last night before the Spring Festival. In China, the New Year's Eve is of great importance, because for Chinese, it is a time when one grows one year older and the night connects the past year and the new year.
Chinese New Year's Eve has a long history, the earliest record of which can be seen in Master Lü's Spring and Autumn Annals. On New Year's Eve, Chinese families gather for a reunion dinner to talk about the past and share their dreams about the future.
They often stay up all night to welcome the coming Spring Festival which is tremendously important for Chinese people.
