农历的九月九日是中国的传统节日重阳节。古时候，重阳节有登高祈福、祈求长寿，赏菊，饮酒和吃重阳糕的习俗。
中国民俗观念认为，数字九是最大的数字，而且“九”和“久”同音，寓意着长久、长寿。所以人们会在这天祭祖，孝敬老人。这也是中国人自古以来就奉行的“百善孝为先”。
On the ninth day of the ninth Lunar month, comes the traditional Chinese festival，the Double Ninth Festival, or the Chinese Chongyang Festival.
In ancient times, it was customary to climb mountains to pray for good luck and longevity, to admire the beauty of chrysanthemums, to drink wine and eat Chongyang cakes on the day.
In Chinese folklore, the number nine is the largest number. Its a homonym to the Chinese word jiu which contains the auspicious meaning of "a long and healthy life". People will hold activities to worship their ancestors and venerate the elderly. It has been practiced by Chinese people since ancient times that "Filial piety is the most important of all virtues".
